What is AlgoRun ‘23
AlgoRun ’23 is the seventh of the annual data hackathons organized by Bogazici University’s Computer Club Compec and Turkey’s leading analytics firm Invent Analytics. AlgoRun is a data hackathon, which means participants will be given a dataset to solve the given problem in a 24-Hour period. Contestants need to come up with innovative ways to tackle the problem at hand and share their insights with the jury.
Who can participate in AlgoRun ‘23
University students, industry professionals, coders and anyone who is interested in tackling a real-world problem through usage of data and programming is welcome.
How do I participate?
To compete at AlgoRun you must form a team of 2-4 people and fill out a registration form as a team. Your team needs to be minimum of two people to be eligible.
What should I bring?
You need to bring your citizen ID and a laptop. You may also want to bring your phone and charger. If you’re planning to stay the night a sleeping bag would be useful.
How do you provide the data?
We will provide the dataset as CSV files. You are free to use any additional data from internet if you think it would be useful.
What language or platform can I use?
The choice is yours. You can choose the ones you feel most comfortable with.
Do I need to be an engineer to attend AlgoRun?
Not at all. If you are interested in solving real-life problems using data, you are welcome.
What if I have no experience in data-analytics?
Not a problem. In fact, this will be your chance to meet the field experts. It is a great starting point.
Will I annoy people if I ask them questions?
Quite the opposite. At AlgoRun we encourage people to have fun and help each other. If you’re ever stuck on anything, you can always ask one of the hackathon volunteers for help.
